If you need to make changes to a survey, you will need to switch survey to Test Mode. Design of a survey can only be modified in Edit Mode. To switch a survey between Test and Edit mode use one of the following.

- Select survey you wish to edit
- Click on edit icon available on survey setup to header to change survey mode.
- Select the Switch to Test Mode or Switch to Edit Mode from the dropdown.

- Select survey you wish to edit
- From left side sidebar find Change Survey Mode section
- Click on Switch to Test Mode or Switch to Edit Mode
Notes
- Data4Action deletes the test survey results and removes the test survey from your device when a survey is switched from Test Mode into Edit Mode. Make sure to download your data if you want to modify survey after publishing.
- The warning from test to edit mode messages can be turned off by ticking the “Don’t show me this warning again” checkbox. If you would like to turn the warning messages back on, go to the Account tab and tick the “Show Warning when changing from Test to Edit Mode” checkbox.
How to switch a survey into edit mode after it has been published?
You cannot switch a survey back into Edit Mode after your survey has been purchased or published. However, Data4Action does have a process for editing a published survey. After editing a published survey, results collected from your original survey and results from your republished survey are stored in separate files in your Data4Action account.
If you wish to edit a published survey you will need to copy desired survey and make your changes on the new survey and assign devices again. Noting that your submitted data will be fragmented into the old and new survey.
